A fine story relevant even today . The 80s threw a lot of family formulas . Its about middle class musings. Pratap has the perfect face for a middle class young chap . He is confused, happy go lucky, gullible , suspicious , insecure , inferior all finely . Here , he is the second son of a middle class family . They find him a good traditional girl from a village who is new to the city of Chennai . Slowly she adjusts after the initial problems . she moulds herself to her husband's needs and wishes . Parallel story is that of an innocent wife who is tortured by her husband for no reason at all . she commits suicide later .That makes Uma ( the heroine ) realise her own husband's good qualities . She sheds her traditional conservative image and starts dressing modernly to impress him and his freinds . This leads to twists and confusions in Pratap's mind and he starts stalling her . When she finds out she leaves for her village in a huff. Finally he realises his mistake and both unite . The conjested busy life in a big city is shown here . A very simple story for the whole family . Uma is aptly cast as a traditional domestic girl. Pratap is a treat to watch in every scene. Wish he had done more Tamil movies like this . This also has some hummable songs . With no dream sequences ,no duets in lush greenery , no fantasy scenes , this is a perfect middle class story .
