An unnamed city is threatened by giant mosquitoes, and the city needs volunteer soldiers to fight against them. Betty Boop (in military uniform) serves as the army's only recruitment officer, promising a kiss for every volunteer. Among the new recruits is Fearless Fred. He and Betty fall in love as they share a sensual kiss in public. Fred is a bit overweight, but he is taller and more muscular than the other recruits. He is chosen as the army's captain. When Fred prepares to lead the army to war, a tearful Betty asks him not to leave her. Fred ignores her pleas, having become attached to his new role. The army is soon at war with the giant mosquitoes. While they kill a few mosquitoes in combat, the insects are numerous. Fred asks for reinforcements. Betty arrives at the front, carrying with her a giant canister of poison gas. The mosquitoes are eliminated through the use of gas. Fred and Betty are granted leading positions in the army's victory parade.
