The film tells about the lives of the Sagrada family, run by the matriarch and her son who live in the countryside, where they both live in peace and witness the occurrence of unfortunate events. It's a story of forbidden love and class oppression where women are captives of time, their hearts chained to the country under the colonial power. The film stars Alma Moreno, Armida Siguion-Reyna, Leroy Salvador, Rez Cortez, Mario Montenegro, Trixia Gomez, and Monang Carvajal in one of the widely-recognized film classics of the Second Golden Age of Philippine Cinema.
