The Blonde Carmen (1935)
Maria Varkas, a famous operetta star tired after her last show, takes an incognito holiday with her assistant Ilka at a small hotel in the Bayern mountains. There they listen how Otto, a composer, and his friend Josef, music writer, criticize theatre divas. Maria, taking it personally, wants to give them a lesson. So she becomes Josephine, a simple peasant girl who will try Otto's patience and make Josef's delight alike. Both friends are writing their next operetta, Die Blonde Carmen, set in Spain. And this peasant girl sings so beautifully, but she can't act at all...
