Depending on her own two feet and her perseverance to make ends meet, Evanthia, a sharp-witted retail instalment seller, wanders through the neighbourhoods of Athens with her tricycle. Bent on earning enough money to marry her beloved only daughter, Lela, off to a worthy eligible bachelor, Evanthia enlists the help of an eccentric French tutor to teach her the language and the ways of the rich. After numerous attempts to learn how to pose as a wealthy and sophisticated lady, Evanthia embarks on a mission to find the perfect husband for Lela while on vacation in a luxurious seaside resort. Before long, Lela catches the eye of young and wealthy Babis, and just like that, they fall madly in love. However, is Babis who he claims he is?
