"Riot" offers a wide-ranging view of one of the most divisive events in American history, the riots that tore through Newark, New Jersey in the summer of 1967. Eyewitness accounts come from a variety of first-responders, some of whom reveal tales of atrocities kept secret for decades. Ordinary citizens contribute as well, with chilling tales of life in a war zone. Further perspective comes from historians and scholars, along with every mayor elected in the city since 1967. Emmy-winner Andre Braugher narrates, as a wealth of period news footage and photographs bring the tumult of the '60's into focus for a whole new generation. Follow along with the people of Newark as they struggle to rebuild their city after the darkest chapter in its history.
