A mutilated man walks, leaning on a crutch, through the Ciudad Universitaria stadium in Madrid, where students exercise. The place was once the scene of one of the bloodiest episodes in the defense of Madrid. The man, who lost a leg in the same place, remembers what happened during the Civil War as he gazes at the cloud-covered skies and what remains of shattered walls, shrapnel-pierced walls and trenches.
