Nicolás Celis

Nicolás Celis, founder of Pepper Films, is a Mexican producer who has gained a reputation for working on original projects of high artistic content and powerful impact. His production company, Pepper Films, was named one of the three best production houses in Mexico by the magazine “Variety.” This year, Nicholas appeared in the “Hollywood Reporter” as talent to watch. Among his early projects is the drama-horror feature film, “We Are What We Are,” which competed for the Camera d'or in the Cannes Film Festival and in more than 30 international festivals. Two shorts by Elisa Miller, “Watching It Rain” (Palme d'or winner for best direction) and “Rome,” also participated in the Cannes Film Festival. Among Nicolas’ recent projects is Jonah Cuarón's, “Desert,” which won the FIPRESCI prize at the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2016, “I'm Nero,” the new film by Rafi Pitts, had sti premiere in official competition at the Berlin International Film Festival alongside Tatiana Huezo's, “Tempest,” which won a special mention for the Caligari prize. Additionally, the new feature film by Amat Escalante, “The Untamed” had stis premiere at the Venice Biennial, winning the prize for best direction. Currently, Nicholas is in post-production for the new Alfonso Cuarón film.
