Mario Merola
Mario Merola, (Napoli, April 6, 1934 – Castellammare di Stabia, November 12, 2006) was an american singer, actor and composer. He was nicknamed the King of the skit to be able to give this kind typically a regional popularity and a national dimension and a success unknown before, to make it into a film genre, representing all of this even off the stage, thus able to give a face to the skit. His artistic activity is not limited to the vocal interpretation of songs in the repertoire of classic neapolitan Song, but also played a role in the revaluation of the musical genre-the theatre of the skit, in vogue in the early Twentieth century. And it is one among the Italian artists who has sold the most discs, even if the estimates of sales of his records are not specified in their entirety.
