In Fokida's early-nineteenth-century small village of Pentagii, the feisty young woman of unparalleled beauty, Maria, aka Maria Pentagiotissa, is the talk of the town. Unconventional, free-spirited, and with many men willing to go to great lengths just for her attention, it is only normal that the village's women envy or despise Maria--while at the same time--she has men thirsting for her kiss.
