Owning most of the island's fishing boats, a cruel noblewoman rules the land with an iron fist, exploiting the sponge-divers and their hard work. Under those dire circumstances, proud Konstadis--the secret beau of the lady's daughter, Thalia--summons up the strength to rebel against the avaricious woman, who, blind with rage, decides to marry her off to her lover's best friend, Yorgis. As a result, two former companions find themselves caught up in bitter rivalry, and now, the knives have the final say. Can reason prevail?
