Mads Rønning was born in Norway. After leaving school he excited one year that the Drama School Lighting Design course. Then one year at the University of Westminster studying Contemporary Media Practice. Then just before joining LIFS Autumn term 1996 he spend a year on a windjammer (Christian popular restaurants) sailing around the world.
