In a small country there is a king who, at 45 years of age, is still single. Then the prime minister decides to marry him to Princess Julia. She is immediately ordered home by her mother, Princess Ilonka. The two of them miss each other at the train station, and Julia meets a young man who she likes very much. While she is having fun with him in the fairground, it is announced that she is the royal bride. She runs away in shock. Disappointed, Franz throws the last bangs out of the window, right in front of the king's car and is arrested as an assassin. To avoid his engagement, the king goes into hiding for a few days, and since Franz looks very much like him, he has to play him for a few days. In the meantime, Princess Julia and her mother have arrived.When King Franz faces his bride, both are overjoyed. But the real king takes his place again, but does not fall in love with Julia, but with her mother Ilonka - and the princess can marry her Franz.
