Diamond is a Labrador who was abandoned twice and even fell into depression. On being given away the second time, he came to live with architect Zhang Jiajing. The once emotionally distant Zhang was gradually melted by Diamond. While caring for him, Zhang completed the most important work of his life — and his gift to Diamond: the kennels. As Diamond entered old age, Zhang drove 1,400 kilometres to take him to the seaside kennels at Aranya, for the first and perhaps the last time.
