In a household consisting of a mother, father, two daughters and a pet bulldog, the dog gets no respect from the human members of the family, they taking it for granted, not petting it for retrieving items for them and feeding it table scraps they themselves don't want to eat among other things. The dog just wants to spend time in its happy place underneath the dining room table to do what it wants in peace, which it cannot even do in the humans not really even realizing that it's there. As the dog ends up being banished, the evening discussion between the four humans may be the final humiliation.
