This film serves as a cautionary tale centered on industrial safety within a lumber mill, emphasizing the catastrophic consequences of neglecting machine guards and safety protocols. Through the experiences of various workers, the narrative highlights the transition from reckless habits—such as operating rip saws and jointers without proper protective equipment—to the implementation of life-saving measures like push blocks, splitters, and cylindrical cutter heads. By contrasting the stories of workers who suffered debilitating injuries with the success of those who adopted rigorous safety standards, the film underscores that workplace accidents are rarely unavoidable misfortunes, but rather the direct result of human error and the failure to respect the inherent dangers of heavy machinery.
