Hills of Peril (1927)
Laramie, a cowpuncher, wins the confidence of the sheriff when he rescues him from two crooks. In town, he becomes involved with a gang of bootleggers; and after meeting Ellen Wade, who is trying to reactivate an abandoned mine, Laramie decides to stay. Though he joins with the gang, he is actually working for the town authorities. Sensing imminent capture by the local posse, the gang escape from the dance hall, but with Laramie's help they are captured; he is elected sheriff and wins the girl.
