Glimpses of New Brunswick (1938)

This Traveltalk visit to the Canada's Province of New Brunswick begins at St. John, which lies on the Bay of Fundy. We see views of its public parks and the school from which MGM mogul Louis B. Mayer graduated. On the way to Fredericton, the provincial capital, we see the Hartland Bridge (at the time of filming, called Snow Bridge), the longest covered bridge in the world at 1,282 feet (approximately 391 meters). In Fredericton, the architecture of the city is noted, with views of the Legislative Assembly Building and Christ Church Cathedral. After a glimpse of the resort town of Bathurst, views of the province's agricultural industry are presented, including wheat and potato farming, and a lumber mill. Then it's on to Blacks Harbour, home of the world's largest sardine processing factory. The final scene shows a seaplane landing on Lake Utopia at St. George.
