"You were somewhere together?" The high school graduate Marie asks her parents sarcastically when they talk about an appointment together. In fact, Tanja and Matthias Winter - she a lively career woman, he a somewhat sloppy ex-teacher and househusband - haven't had much in common for a long time. Nevertheless, both are equally astonished that Marie does not want to study, but instead wants to train as an automotive mechatronics technician in Berlin. Tanja soon also has a big surprise: Immediately after Marie's move to the capital, she informs her husband that she also wants to pack her bags. For them, marriage is over. Matthias no longer understands the world. But all of it is of no use: Tanja has already found a new apartment and soon a sensitive lover in her young colleague Sebastian. In the midst of this turbulence, Marie reveals to her completely perplexed parents that she actually loves women. Matthias fights for his wife, but with his clumsy attempts to recapture him, he looks like a teenager who is injured in his pride. Only when he learns to look ahead, gets to know the down-to-earth vet Andrea and can give the boy next door valuable help for his math exams, does the turbulent round of love affairs and surprises calm down. Or so it seems.
