Behind the Facade reveals that Danish retailers are selling synthetic hashish or cannabis—both online and in stores. Synthetic cannabis is a group of substances that affect the same parts of the brain as hashish and can cause serious side effects. The substances are sold to consumers throughout Europe via the Danish website Herbal Chill and directly from the Headshop store in Randers. The retailers are well aware that they are operating on the edge of the law. Therefore, the synthetic cannabis is hidden in dried herbs and sold as incense or plant fertilizer for bonsai trees. But Bag Facaden tests the products from Herbal Chill and Headshoppen. All products contain synthetic cannabis. Nevertheless, customers are told that the products are completely harmless.
