'5 Stages' is a voyeuristic look into the life of a young couple, Cal and Aubrey. As a searing portrait of the dissolution of a relationship, the film offers a snapshot into their home life on a single night, narrated in real time. What begins as a petty argument progressively turns into a volatile, blow-for-blow grudge match between lovers. Through their dialogue, truths are spoken and the ugliness of something once so beautiful is unveiled. Witnessing this defining moment may cause us to feel as intruders, only to realize that we are in fact looking at a reflection of ourselves.
