Journaliste Moritz Nestler is working on an article à propos de la nlfa, madness and the way it's danger is played down by the politiciens. A bullock s head, which is infected with the disease, is played into his hands and makes him realize that Germany is now affected by ESB too. Dans unofficial interviews with scientists he apprend that ESB could possibly infect humans too but before he can publier quoi que ce soit, he found dead. His girlfriend and collègue Ute Boehning doesn't believe in accident and wants to continue his investigation - although her father, oms possède a slaughter-house, asks her not to.
