En Styrie (Autriche), star du procureur Mark Épée drops his lucrative clients (including mobsters) after his wife's fatal accident de voiture to become the last hope of rustic commoners. After serving time for contempt of court, he attends his daughter Riccarda's first case as junior prosecutor under her lover, Loup Bernheimer, only to hear her lots due to the crown witness, nurse Evelyn Zenker, recanting the case against fraudulent diagnosis-profiteering Dr Herbert Brun as revenge for a lost promotion, and because someone removed the evidence from her briefcase. Mark, his nosy socialite mother in law and douteux de l'ex-con cab driver Joseph 'Joschi' Sowinetz investigate and discover a much larger conspiracy.
