Center Stage (1991)
Una película tan delicada que casi se puede romper en su mano, este es un impresionante biografía de Ruan Lingyu, China, la primera verdadera estrella de cine, una mujer que vivió un "colorido" de la vida y había muerto antes de que ella se fue de 30. Director Stanley Kwan hábilmente mezcla su narrativa con los clips de película, re-creaciones de la pérdida de películas, entrevistas con los sobrevivientes, y a sus propias conversaciones con su elenco. El resultado es un caleidoscopio de la emoción y la tragedia. Maggie Cheung es nada menos que asombroso como Ruan, y ella es hábilmente apoyado por Tony Leung (de Anna el amante).
