Lola Arendt, an eight-year-old girl, goes missing on an island in Schottland. Martin und Sarah Arendt are so traumatised by the loss of their daughter that they end up separating. Two years later, Lola is found in exactly the same spot where she disappeared. She is alive and seems to be in perfect health, but she is unable-to-talk. Martin returns alone to the island to collect his daughter. His joy at being reunited with Lola soon is overtaken by his anxieties over what became of her and why she is unable-to-talk-about her ordeal...
