Fred Bonnemaison, a driven and self-centered Parisian food writer has to return to his home town, Lyon, when his mother, a lively octogenarian, runs away to join a community of free-thinking widows. While Fred soon manages to bring Suzanne back, it 's after a series of disasters which mean he' s forced to stay longer than expected in his native town. This involuntary return even ends up with a public humiliation during a local party, from which Fred thinks he ' ll never recover. Unless that is - What if Fred, who 's convinced he' s lost everything, simply goes for it and wins? What if it ' s never too late to change your life?
