Lilian Andreesen, the daughter of Danish newspaper king Holger, is crazy about music. Holger has just brought her back from the boarding school in Lausanne back to Denmark when Lilian surprised him with the news that she had received a commitment in the nightclub Tivoli. When Holger threatens to send her back to boarding school immediately, Lilian flees to Germany with her aunt Henriette's car. Not far from Heidelberg she has a breakdown and is towed by Martin Fischer at night. Although he is actually a law student, however, he earns his money for studying at Autozentrale Vogt as a car mechanic.Martin is initially critical of Lilian, his boss, the playboy Stefan Vogt, but takes a liking to the young woman. He places her in an inn in a room that was originally intended for his American love, Baby Bird, but which does not appear until the following day.
