The film is solely made up of interviews with seven brothers born into a German family between 1929 and 1945. Each of the brothers are interviewed separately in a darkened room, sitting on a chair. No other people are present. They each tell the story of their life in the family and as normal citizens of Germany during a turbulent time in history, each showing a slightly different angle related to their time of birth and place in the family.
